The Jail Cell interpretation and the re-building of the turret along the external Military Wall formed part of the Gateway to Discovery project funded by the Irish Government and part-financed by the European Union under the National Development Plan, 2000-2006. It was supported by Roscommon County Council and administered by Failte Ireland in association with Ireland West Tourism.
